People Rush To File Bankruptcy Before Deadline

October is the deadline to file for bankruptcy under existing law. Now, people are rushing to lawyers to file. But consumer activists criticize the new law, claiming fewer people will ever be able to get out of debt.

It’s being played out across the United States and right here in San Diego. Some people are at the end of their financial rope and the only alternative left for many is to file for bankruptcy – especially before the new bankruptcy law goes into effect October 17.
